Meet the Doctor
Tanisha Brown, DDS
Dr. Brown was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. Growing up an only child, she was extremely lucky to have found her passion for dentistry very early in life – at the age of six. She spent more time at the pediatric dentist than most kids, and she loved the time she spent there.
Though she considered other options, her heart always went back to dentistry. She graduated from St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in 2005. From there she studied biology and chemistry at the University of Toledo. While in Toledo, she met Dr. Barricklow who invited her to his office to shadow. She knew, after putting in many hours of observation at his office, that she was indeed making the right decision. After graduating with her Bachelor of Biological Sciences in 2009, she took a year off before entering dental school at The Ohio State University. Thereafter, she completed a residency at the University of Iowa Hospital.
Dr. Brown has worked with a wide variety of patients in her career. She’s spent time in nursing homes providing care to the residents, worked briefly at a pediatric office, served as a managing dentist at a dental service organization, and provided dental services at a men’s homeless shelter in downtown Columbus. She’s also worked in private practice.
She loves Central Ohio, and she’s happy to call it home. When she’s not at work, she collects Coca-Cola memorabilia and acts as the elected chairperson of the national Coca-Cola Collector’s Club. She also loves exercising, writing, photography, traveling, learning new skills, and being around friends and family. And, she LOVES being a dentist!
I value close relationships because they make life meaningful, being kind and giving to be a good steward, and learning and implementing new things to become a better doctor. Accordingly, I am making Uproot Dental a place where people love to work, patients love to visit, and a place known in the community for its altruism.
